The lift gallery is our stage (god help us) after the cabinet space we have been set the task of creating work that would be installed the following week. Now the cabinets were easy to manage, as we had to create individual pieces to be placed inside.
This time however we were going to have to work in a group. But what could we do in a group that would take less than a week to build? The answer was simple, exquisite corpses. For those who don’t know exquisite corpse is a process of a person drawing something on a piece of paper then folding it to hide what they have drawn, this was then handed to the next person who would draw the next section and then the process would be repeated again. In the end this created a piece of wok that know one would come up with in there own mind.
This was perfect for the surrealists who create the game to keep their skills active when they would meet up. So both fun and beneficial in helping the surrealists in making there unique work and great inspiration for our own work.
The decision was made to make these pieces life sized as is we were to make them on a small scale we would need large quantities of drawings to make an impact. To help keep things simple we decided to make them into three sections so everyone could have a space and we would have just enough to fill the lift gallery.
There were no restrictions with what we could draw/paint so to see the outcome was an interesting wait.
When it cam to setting up the exhibition we chose a simple method of using large bulldog clips to hang the work onto the walls, this way we wouldn’t need to frame the pieces and it would be less time consuming and easy to remove at the end.

A review on the lift gallery
Called exquisite corpse the artists have taken the classic surrealist game and transformed them into life-sized renditions. Ranging from anime to paintings a group of six individual creations have been produced that represent the styles of those who had made them.
unusual work meets unusual space in this exhibition , bulldog clips suspends unframed paper to the walls, allowing elements like wind to play part in the performance that is the exhibition It feels like this is not the exhibition, almost as if you walk by the real one by mistake, a understandable mistake when the walls are covered with work throughout the building.
Various limitations caused the original ideas for the exhibition to distort, causing a completely different idea to emerge from the depth of the artists minds. Several problems came about from the nature of the space, relatively small openings between walls and stairs meant projecting work could never have made it into reality. Cleaners pose threats to the work in the form of there cleaning contraptions, Work couldn't be to far from the walls in fear of being broken in the process of moving the cleaning materials from storage, and annoyance, which has plagued may an exhibition before.
